Once operating as Middle Tennessee Funeral Home, the business was acquired by the Shackelfords from the Barnett family in March of 1983 and renamed Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County. The purchase included funeral homes in Waynesboro and Collinwood as well as a cemetery in each town. Today the full-service facility located at 104 Hill Street, just off the square in Waynesboro, offers families a variety of options for preneed and at-need arrangements, including both burial and cremation.
