W. T. Hill was born July 16, 1924 in McNary County, TN the son of the late William Major Hill and Lura Barnes Hill.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Lavern Stansell on June 8, 1946. Mrs. Hill preceded him in death on July 9, 2010.
Mr. Hill was born during the Great Depression and went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He served in Company G 315th Infantry Regiment 79th Division from 1944-1946. He fought in what is known as the largest battle on the Western Front in Europe during World War II, the Battle of the Bulge and survived extreme conditions. When we speak of "the greatest generation," Mr. Hill was the definition.
After his discharge from the Army, Mr. Hill worked for Brown Shoe Factory for 16 years and was an insurance agent for 42 years. He farmed a little, planted an occasional garden which later found its way to the rose beds, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
Mr. Hill departed this life on December 19, 2018 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 94 Years, 5 Months, 3 Days. He is survived by two daughters, Naomi Hill and Frances Hill both of Bethel Springs, TN; a son and his wife, Drs. Roger and Connie Hill of Jonesboro, AR; three grandchildren, Andrew Hill and wife Bobbi of Humble, TX, Maggie Faughn and husband Ricky of Paragould, AR, Lauren Ball and husband Cary of Jonesboro, AR; three great grandchildren, Hayden Faughn, Luke Hill, and Witt Kindred Ball; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Raleigh Dale Faughn; a sister, Dorothy Faye Johnson.
