Willie Juanita Hurst, 82, of Memphis, died early Tuesday morning, March 21, 2006 at her home of pancreatic cancer.
The widow of Mitchell Palmer Hurst, who died October 17, 1999, she was retired from the postal service in 1983. Mrs. Hurst was born August 19, 1923 in Silerton, daughter of the late William C. and Anna Rush Hooper. She was a member of Berclair Baptist Church.
Services for Willie Juanita Hurst, 82, of Memphis, were 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Silerton. Mrs. Hurst enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and traveling and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She had a sweet smile for everyone she met and her children stated that “we felt truly blessed to have had her for our motherâ€.
She leaves two daughters, Pam Stanford and her husband, Larry, and Beverly McDuff, all of Cordova; one grandchild, Greg Stanford of Memphis; one brother, George W. Hooper of Silerton and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Edwin Hooper.
