WILLIAM T. SHERMAN WINTERS



was born on May 3, 1928, to Andrew W. and Myrtle (Thornton) Winters, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Chaney Maxine Graham on September 12, 1948, and to this union six children were born.



Mr. Winters was employed by Phillips Construction Company, Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store, Tennessee Gas Pipeline and he also worked for Dr. John Lay. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music and riding his bicycle.



Mr. Winters departed this life on April 3, 2013, at the age of 84 years and 11 months.



He is survived by daughters, Chequita W. Smith, and her husband Oran, of Southfield, Michigan, Demetrice W. Hart and her husband, Larry of Savannah, Tennessee, Marilyn Winters of Florence, Alabama, Elaine Casey and her husband, Ronnie of Savannah, Tennessee and Denice W. Demers and her husband, Michael of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Iris B. Winters of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters, Juanita Fry and Mattie Jackson, both from Savannah, Tennessee; an aunt, Wilma Bumpus of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Keith Winters, Juan Dixon, Chequita Winters, Tomeka Smith, Ronnie Casey, Brittany Hart, Amy Smith, Ronald Casey and MacKenzie Demers; five great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Chaney Graham Winters.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William A. Winters; brothers, Hillard Winters, Douglas Winters, and Alex Young; sisters, Lucy Winters and Albanie Ward.
