William Brandon Whidden On Sunday, July 28, 2019, William Brandon “Meathead” Whidden, loving son, husband and father of two boys, passed away at age 38.
Brandon was born on February 15, 1981 in Memphis, TN to the late Judy Jones and Horace “Ted” Whidden and raised by Shirley and Newton Haddock. He is an Army National Guard Veteran, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
On October 15, 2005, he married Tamara Turnbo Whidden. They have two sons, William Bradley and Shawn Isaac.
Brandon had a passion for many things, and he put a great amount of time and effort into being a part of his boys’ lives and the friendships that he forged with so many. He was known for his infectious smile, goofiness, shoot-it-straight attitude, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Brandon had a wonderfully compassionate heart that could make anyone smile; he was a truly special person.
Brandon was preceded in death by his mother, Judy. He is survived by his wife Tamara, his two children, Will and Isaac, his brother Brad Haddock, parents, Newton and Shirley Haddock and Ted Whidden, grandmother, Christine Staggs and husband, Deb, in-laws, several cousins, two nieces, and three nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Collinwood, TN with Tim Hanback officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, August 2, 2019 from 9 am to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be ShaunDale Hanback, David Rochell, Jason Wright, Jonathan Creecy, Josh Nance and Alan Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamey Haddock and Lanny Haddock.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to be made to the Whidden Boys’ College Fund. Donations can be made at the Wayne County Bank in Waynesboro or Collinwood.
