William Glenn West

December 4, 1933 — April 9, 2009

William Glenn West was born December 4, 1933 in Collinwood, Tennessee, the son of the late Andrew and Ruby Jewel Holt West. Mr. West departed this life Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 75 Years, 4 Months, and 5 Days. In addition to his parents, Mr. West was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis West and an infant sister, Anna Ruth West. Glenn graduated from Memphis Barber College in 1955 and was known as Waynesboro's Best Barber and chainsaw carver. For over 40 years he owned and operated City Barber Shop and Sanitary Barber Shop. He also drove a school bus in Wayne County for approximately 10 years. He was a member of Who's Who of Woodcarvers, was #1 Stihl chainsaw salesman in Tennessee for 4 years, and was a member of Waynesboro Church of God.



He is survived by the mother of his children, Shirley Dodd West of Waynesboro; two sons, Anthony West of Waynesboro, TN and Randy West and wife, Linda of Cleveland, OH; two daughters, Glenda West Francis and husband, Michael of Clifton, TN, Tabitha West Daniel and husband, Stephen of Smyrna, TN; five grandchildren, Chandler Francis, Kincaid Francis, Dakota Daniel, Skyler Daniel, Destiny Daniel; three brothers, Billy West and wife, Carlene of Iron City, TN, Preston West of Florence, AL, and Andrew West Jr. and wife, Joan of Iron City, TN; several nieces and nephews.



Services will be Sunday, April 12, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee with Ricky West officiating. Burial will follow in Collinwood Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, from noon until service time at the funeral home.



Pallbearers will be Anthony West, Randy West, Chandler Francis, Kincaid Francis, Michael Francis, Stephen Daniel, Dakota Daniel.
