BILL TAYLOR
Henderson, TN: William Elihu Taylor, Jr. age 74 passed away December 10, 2018 at his home.
He was born July 1, 1944 in Selmer, TN the son of the late William Elihu Taylor, Sr. and Vera Alene Matlock Taylor. He graduated from Selmer High School and served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He married Jackie Sue Cupples October 1964. She preceded him in death April 23, 1996. He was a Journeyman electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 1701 in Owensboro, KY for over thirty years and still held membership with them at the time of his passing. He also traveled to various places (all 50 States, Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands, India and the Johnston Islands near Hawaii) while working as a freelance Controls Engineer for power plant startups. In his earlier years he also was a professional wrestler under the name “Bill Savage.” He married Louise King on January 3, 1998.
He enjoyed woodworking, genealogy study and was a talented musician. He had a great capacity for love and raised two grandchildren, Micaela Snider and Joshua Downer in addition to his own children. He was a member of The House of Prayer Church at Jacks Creek.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Louise King Taylor of Henderson; four sons, Russell Cupples of Jackson, Tommy Cupples of Humboldt, Keith (Lisa) Taylor of Owensboro, KY and Doug (Amy) Holder of Saltillo; three daughters, Janet (Jimmy) Stout of Henderson, Michelle Taylor of Henderson and Libby (Jim) Schifino of Jacks Creek; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and one sister, Ruby (Cliff) Hannah of Silerton.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joe Cupples and a sister, Marsha Depew.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Mike Cothren officiating. Burial will follow in The House of Prayer Church Cemetery at Jacks Creek.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
