William Mayo Sain

October 3, 1915 — March 28, 2005

William Mayo Sain, Sr., 89, of Middleton, died Monday, March 28,

2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



The husband of Addie Wammack Sain, who survives, he was a

compressor operator at Tennessee Gas & Transmissions from 1947-80. Mr. Sain was born October 3, 1915 in Hardeman County, son of the late John L. and Pearl Vaughan Saine In the early 1960's, he served two terms as Mayor of Middleton, was City Alderman and served on the County Tax Equalization Board, County Beer Board, Porter's Creek Watershed Board and Hardeman County Civil Service Board. Mr. Sain was a member of the Middleton Mason and Shriner's Lodge and Middleton First Baptist Church.



Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 at the First Baptist

Church of Middleton with Eric Taylor and Herbert Higdon officiating.

Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery near Middleton. Shackelford

Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.



In addition to his wife, whom he married January 16, 1938, survivors

include one daughter, Carolyn Christly of Hernando, Miss.; one son,

Bill Sain of Middleton; two grandsons, Andy Kirk of Bartlett and Brian Sain of Middleton; one granddaughter, Sherry Sain of Middleton; two great grandsons, Zackery and Jacob Kirk, both of Bartlett; one great granddaughter, Jessica Kirk of Bartlett; and three sisters, Juanita Richardson of Adamsville, Sue Scott of Middleton and Gloria Roberts of Olive Branch, Miss. He was preceded in death by two young sisters, Katrina and Joann Sain and one brother, Lenon Saine
