William Sam Prater

William Sam (W.S.) Prater was born December 15, 1924 in Clifton, Tennessee the son of the late Pink Prater. Mr. Prater departed this life Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Wayne Care Nursing Home in Waynesboro at the age of 86 Years, 8 Months, 17 Days. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Seltzer Prater; son, Melvin L. Prater; four brothers, Charles Prater, Walter Prater, Butch Prater, and Bill Gordon. Mr. Prater, a veteran of World War II, served his country in the U.S. Army and also served in the Clifton Masonic Lodge 173. Mr. Prater was formerly employed at T.S. Hassell Co. in Clifton.He is survived by a son, Sam Prater of Florence, AL; three grandchildren, Bridget Yarbro, Tonya Scott, and Daniel Prater; four great grandchildren, Jeremy Yarbro Jr., Leo Barber, Jack Prater, and Annabeth Prater; two daughters-in-law, Diane Prater of Clifton, TN and Cynthia Prater of Florence, AL; three brothers, Virgil Prater and Tom Prater both of Detroit, MI, Phil Prater of Nashville, TN; three sisters, Janetta Thompson of Waynesboro, TN, Evelyn Sell of Bradenton, FL and sister-in-law, Leoma Reynolds of Clifton, TN. A Graveside Service will be 1:30 PM Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Clifton Cemetery in Clifton, Tennessee. Interment with masonic rites following services with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
