William Pope Newton, 81, of Sparta, TN, formerly of Grand Junction, TN died November 30, 2010 at LifeCare Center of Sparta.
He was born December 9, 1928 in Saulsbury, TN to Robert and Willie Newton. He was a member of the Grand Junction United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He was an alderman for the town of Grand Junction. He was the owner of Newton's Cleaners and was in the freight business.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Weatherford of Cabot, AR and Sally Bibb (Buddy) of Munford, TN; one son Michael Newton (Terri) of Cookeville, TN. One son, William Paul Newton, preceded him in death. He leaves five grandchildren, Christi, Brandy, Eric, Rachel, and Birdie.
