William Matlockwas born in McNairy County, Tennessee on September 3, 1917 the son of the late William Murray and Decie Horton Matlock.On November 30, 1946 he was united in marriage to Jessie Howell, who preceded him in death on April 16, 2001.Mr. Matlock was self-employed as a commercial fisherman. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and gardening.Mr. Matlock departed this life on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 at the age of 91 years, 28 days. Mr. Matlock is survived by a daughter: Betty Willis and her husband Terry of Counce, Tennessee; 2 sons: Jerry Matlock and wife Judy of Adamsville, Tennessee and Rick Matlock of Counce, Tennessee; 5 sisters: Jocie Willis, Frances Martin both of Ramer, Tennessee, Martha Glover of St. Louis, Missouri, Joan Tarver of Hornbeak, Tennessee, and Doris Pierce of Texas; 1 brother: Odus Matlock of Selmer, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren: Tanya Irwin, Amanda Mason, and Chad Matlock; 4 great-grandchildren: Brittany Irwin, Wilder Mason, MacAllister Mason, and Bryson Matlock.In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Matlock was preceded in death by a sister: Freda Matlock; 2 brothers: Woodrow Matlock and Murial Matlock.
