William Lester Jacobs

WILLIAM LESTER JACOBSLuray, TN: William Lester Jacobs, age 100, died January 16, 2009 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.He was born and reared in Dallas County, AR the son of the late James L. and Josephine Emily Hunt Jacobs. He farmed as a young man and worked at the Fisher Plant, building B52’s during the war and later at Keithly Bakery in Memphis. He was married to Zelma Lee Counts in 1927. They lived in the Glendale - Jacks Creek area since 1948. Mrs. Jacobs died in 1993. He was a member of the Holly Springs Methodist Church.He is survived by a daughter; Josephine Hinson of Henderson; a son; Charles Jacobs of Crawfordville, FL; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; Zelma Lee Counts Jacobs in 1993; three sons, Ray Jacobs, Danny Jacobs in Vietnam, William Jacobs; a brother, James Jacobs and three sisters, Mary Jones, Gladys Keel and Myrtle Fletcher.
