Jack Reynolds

William John Reynolds, more commonly known as Jack, was born in Savannah, Hardin County, Tennessee, July 18, 1933 the son of William Johnson (John) Reynolds and Allie Seaton Reynolds. He passed from this life February 20, 2024 at the age of 90 years 7 months 2 days. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Jene Johnson Reynolds.

He was educated in Hardin County Schools, and enjoyed telling everyone he received a Perfect Attendance Award for being present every day for the entire 12 years. He graduated from Central High School as President of the Class of 1951. On June 5, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jene Johnson Reynolds.

After graduating with a degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and completing Military Service, he received a law degree from Southern Law School.  He graduated with Cum Laude honors and served as President for the Class of 1962.

He was employed as a claims adjuster for the State Farm Insurance Company and began practicing law in Selmer, Tennessee in 1964. He served as County Attorney for McNairy County, Alderman for the City of Selmer, and was a member of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, The Tennessee Bar Association, as well as the Hardin and McNairy County Bar Associations. Mr. Reynolds was a licensed Real Estate Broker and attained a Private Pilot License.

His desire to be of service extended far beyond his dedication to his church and family. He was active with several civic organizations and involved in many business endeavors.

He was a charter member of the founders for First National Bank of Selmer, Tennessee. Subsequently, he served as a board member for First Federal Savings and Loan, West Tennessee Financial, and Home Banking Company, Inc.

In 1984, he moved his law practice to Savannah where he was later joined by his son and grandson, practicing under the law firm name of Reynolds & Reynolds.

He was a faithful member of Savannah Church of Christ, and supportive of Freed-Hardeman University.

Respectfully honoring him are his son, Jay (Denise) Reynolds; his daughter, Elizabeth (Kirk) Linam; grandchildren, Justin (Angie) Reynolds, Mary Margaret Reynolds, MaryElizabeth (Justin) Roberts, Will (Lauren) Linam, Jonathan (Abbie) Linam; two great-grandchildren, Brelee Reynolds, and Jesse Linam; as well as a host of relatives and friends.  

In addition to his wife, Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Betty Haynes.

In accordance to the wishes and directives of Mr. Reynolds; the family held a private graveside service. They sincerely appreciate the many kind expressions of concern. Further, they thank the wonderful Management, staff, and care providers at AHC Savannah, along with the personal service of Shackelford Funeral Directors.

Mr. Reynolds’ total devotion was to God, Family, and Country.  The family requests memorials be made to Savannah Church of Christ, 1175 Pickwick St S., Savannah, TN 38372, or charity of your choosing.
