Mr. Garrett passed away Thursday evening, May 8 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
The husband of Sue Garrett, who survives, he was the owner/operator of Superior Plumbing/Heating in Bolivar since 1960. He was born to Coy Franklin Garrett and Frances Mae Wiley Garrett, both of whom preceded him in death and lived most of his life in Bolivar. His activities included past president of the Bolivar Optimist Club and District Lt. Governor, Bolivar Band Booster president from 1969-1970, coach for Bolivar Little League and Babe Ruth League and he was a member of the Madison County Plumbers Union. Mr. Garrett was a Master Sergeant with the Tennessee National Guard and a member of First United Methodist Church in Bolivar.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on April 18, 1947, survivors include a daughter and her husband, Suzanne G. and David Rhea of Bolivar; a son and his wife, Bill, Jr. and Adele Garrett of Bolivar; a brother, Charles A. Garrett of Jackson; and five grandchildren, Catherine, Taylor, Libera and Will Garrett and Payton Rhea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Wilson Garrett; a sister, Frances Garrett and four brothers, Douglas, Coy Franklin, James R. and Robert 'Bob' Wiley Garrett.
