William Hubert Fortner

Funeral services for William Hubert (Bill) Fortner, age 70, of Florence, AL will be Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 3 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Collinwood, TN with David Ruslow and Wes Gurley officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Railroad Cemetery, Iron City, TN, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the funeral home.



He died at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, AL on Tuesday, March 25, 2008.



Mr. Fortner, a native of Beckley, WV, was retired from the United States Coast Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wanda Sue Walker Fortner.



Survivors, wife, Melba Phillips Fortner, Florence; sons, Tommy Fortner, Beckley, WV, Billy Arnett and Matt (Sherron) Arnett all of Florence, AL; daughters, Wanda Simpson, Susan Richardson, Stephanie Barker all of Beckley, WV, Kim (Greg) Johnston, Florence, AL; eleven grandchildren; brother, Tommy Fortner, Florence, AL; sisters, Barbara Norman, MI, Rose McPeters, Florence, AL, Phyllis Williams, Cherokee, AL; nieces and nephews.
