William C. Bennett
was born in Salina, Kansas the son of the late Wayne C. and Ida Plante Bennett.
He was united in marriage to the former Venie Edith Sanders, who preceded him in death. Mr. Bennett was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Corinth, Mississippi.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the American Legion, Post # 90, in Jackson, Tennessee and also of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post # 3962, in Corinth, Mississippi. He enjoyed fishing and playing shuffleboard.
He departed this life on October 12, 2006 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Mississippi at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 12 days.
Mr. Bennett is survived by a son, Craig Bennett of Gallatin, Tennessee;
2 daughters: Stella Brooks of Fort Worth, Texas and Patricia Austin of Bendbrook, Texas; 2 step-sons: Melvin Ballard of Festus, Missouri and Gene Bergfield of Auburndale, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
2 brothers: Raymond Bennett of Bogue, Kansas and Louis Bennett of Arizona and one sister, Lois Thorne of Hoisington, Kansas.
In addition to his parents, and wife, Venie Edith Sanders Bennett, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Phillip Bergfield.
