Mr. William H. Amos was born Sunday, June 13, 1948 to Hansel Amos and Martha Wynn. He departed this life on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
William graduated from McNairy Central High School in 1966. He professed a belief in Christ at an early age. After moving back to Selmer, TN in 2006 he joined Cypress Creek First Baptist Church where he was a faithful and loyal member. He was a lifetime member of the Pontiac Night Riders and retired from General Motors in 2006 after 48 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Wynn; father, Hansel Amos; brothers, Zachary Amos and Christopher Amos; sisters, Phyllis Simms and Carol Brown.
William leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 40 years, Yvonne Amos of Selmer, TN; three children: Richard (Yvette) Cannady of Huntsville, AL, Faye Alexander and Pamela Robinson, both of Pontiac, MI; seven grandchildren: Gabrielle Tooson of Detroit, MI, Dominique Alexander of Corinth, MS, Demetrius Alexander of Ypsilanti, MI, Richard Cannady, Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Monica Cannady, Jeffery Harsten, and Andre Harsten, all of Pontiac, MI; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Waller of Selmer, TN; four brothers: Antonio Amos of Selmer, TN, Billy Amos, Sr. and Thomas Stubbs, both of Savannah, TN, and Nelson Brown of Pontiac, MI; sisters-in-law Robin (Willie) Craft of Crown Point, IN, Cherry (Tony) Cannady and Patricia Kyles, all of Pontiac, MI; brothers-in-law Tommy Cannady, Jr. and Lewis Cannady, both of Cordele, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
