Mr. Wylie was born and reared in Sardis, Tennessee in Henderson County, the son of the late Frank Otto and Flossie Holland Wylie. He attended school at Sardis and later attended electrical training school. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in the South Pacific during WWII, aboard the USS Anthony and the USS Snyder and returned in 1946. He was married to Elizabeth Denison in 1949. They made their home in Jackson, where Mr. Wylie worked as an electric motor repairman and an installer of electric motors for Townsend Electric Motor Works for over 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson.
They moved to Henderson after the tornado in Jackson in May 2003 to make their home with their daughter Janet.
He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW Post 1848, in Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Denison Wylie; a daughter, Janet “Jan†Burkhead and husband Harry E. Burkhead all of Henderson; two brothers, John Wylie of Saltillo and Neal Wylie of Monroe, NC.
