He was born in McNairy County, the son of the late Jack and Ola Burkeens Hysmith. He attended school at Finger. He lived near Finger all of his life, and farmed as a young man and worked at several Dairies. He was employed by the U.T. Extension Experimental Station in Jackson for several years in their cattle production. He was married to Dianne Lane June 30, 1976. They made their home near Finger. He worked for the Chester County Nursing Home and the Chester County School System. He attended the Clarks Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; Dianne Hysmith of Finger; two daughters, Crystal Bass (Daniel) of Grapevine, AR and Amanda Hysmith of Finger; two sons, Roy Hysmith of Finger and Jason Hysmith (Sarah) of Finger; two step sons, Randy Stout (Regena) of Pinson and Timothy Stout (Barbara) of Henderson; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a sister, Sue Julian of Finger and two brothers, A.D. Hysmith of Henderson and Teddy Hysmith of Bethel Springs, TN.
