He was born in Henderson County, the son of the late Buford Frankland and Sarah Viola Middleton Blackstock. He married Maerene Smith in 1950. They made their home near Beech Bluff, Luray and Juno Communities. He worked in road construction most of his adult life, having worked for Boyer and Johnson and later Dement Construction Company.
He is survived by a son Phillip Blackstock of Lyles; a daughter, Thelma Hughes of Lexington; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill Blackstock of Decaturville and Bob Blackstock of Huron; 2 sisters, Sue Williams of Lexington and Peggy Dickson of Luray.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maerene Smith Blackstock in September 2006.
