Wayne Rhodes

Thomas Wayne Rhodes was born February 26, 1931 in Henderson County, TN the son of the late F. L. (Abb) and Wilda Johnson Rhodes. He departed this life on December 5, 2019 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 9 Months, 9 Days.

Mr. Rhodes was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Crow on May 8, 1954. He owned Wayne Rhodes Candy Company for 43 years. He served in the TN National Guard from 1949 until 1969. He attended Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer, Tennessee. Wayne was a member of the Selmer Country Club, the Masonic Lodge 743/338 for 63 years, and also a member of the Eastern Star Dixie Chapter 115 for 62 years. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth Crow Rhodes of Selmer, TN; two sons, David Wayne Rhodes and wife Regina of Lathrop, MO, Steve Rhodes and wife Jennifer of Eastview, TN; four grandchildren: Wesley Rhodes, Molly Hamm and husband Daniel all of Knoxville, TN, Baylee Rhodes and Cole Rhodes of Lathrop, MO; a sister, Carol Jane Schmidt and husband John of Memphis, TN; and a brother, Ennis Rhodes of Jasper, TN.
Visitation will be held on December 6, 2019 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee. Private service will be held and burial will follow in the Hope McNairy County Memorial Cemetery in Selmer, Tennessee.
