Wayne Gibens departed this life on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at the age of 67 year, 8 months, 15 days.
He was born in Corinth, Mississippi on March 5, 1945, the son of Judith M. Stimpson and the late Nolan Gibens. On November 23, 2004, he was united in marriage to Teresa Reddington, who survives.
Mr. Gibens served in the US Army from 1963 - 1968. A member of the 1st Calvary Division, he was stationed in Korea, Germany, and then went to Vietnam from 1967 -1968. He was with the 1st Calvary Division January 18, 1968, in Vietnam and supported the Marines at the SAHA during the TET Offensive.
After, his Honorable Discharge, he lived in Fort Myers, Florida for 25 years and worked for Lee County Mosquito Control. He was very mechanically minded, which came in handy with his job which required numerous job titles, such as: electrician, welder, plumber, etc. He eventually retired from the company. In addition to Fort Myers, Florida, he also called McNairy County, Tennessee home for 6 1/2 years where he was a member of the Landmark Pentecostal Church in Adamsville, Tennessee.
Mr. Gibens was a Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and was a member of motorcycle clubs. He enjoyed dancing, loved children, was an avid and successful gun hunter of deer. He was also very knowledgeable about horses. He was a ferrier, enjoyed walking horses, trail riding, and was a member of several saddle clubs.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Reddington-Gibens of Adamsville, Tennessee; children, Vickey Gibens of Corinth, Mississippi, Brian Gibens of Ft. Myers, Florida, Justin Gibens of Orlando, Florida and Noel Gibens of Adamsville, Tennessee; mother, Judith Stimpson of Wrightstown, New Jersey; sister, Gwen Anchorman of Wrightstown, New Jersey; brother, Ronnie Stimpson of St. Louis, Missouri.
