Walter Mayfield

June 22, 1921 — January 26, 2013

Walter Mayfiled was born in Chester County, son of the late Fritz and Lillie Johnson Mayfield. He attended Schools In Chester County and was married to Tommie Duberry on November 1, 1941. They made their home in Chester County. Mr. Mayfield served in the US Army as a Medic during WWII. He moved to Chicago in 1954, where he learned his trade as a cobbler, and worked there until 1962. Returning to Henderson, he applied his trade for several years before operating the M & M Truck Stop. He later returned to his cobbling, operating Mayfield Shoes and Repair Shop until retiring and working for Murray Guard in Jackson. Mr Mayfield was a life long member of the Congretation at Estes church of Christ.



Mr. Mayfield departed this life on January 26, 2013 in at the age of 91 Years, 7 Months, 4 Days.



He is survived by his wife Tommie (Duberry) Mayfield of Finger, TN; two daughters, Alma Gordon of Water Valley, MS, Anita Mayfield of Finger, Tn; a brother, Floyd Mayfield of Henderson, Tn; four grandchildren, Terri Lynn , Bobbie , Kyli , Harlee ; and 12 Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mayfield was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Patterson, Ruby Rumage; five brothers, Roy Mayfield, Raymond Mayfield, Garland Mayfield, Homer Mayfield, Buford Mayfield.
