Mr. Lax died Saturday evening, December 3, at Methodist Fayette Healthcare in Somerville, Tennessee.
The husband of Janice Faye Henley Lax of Somerville, whom he married April 8, 1961 they were married 50 years. He was born November 17, 1941 in E. Chicago, Indiana, to Marcus "Mark" and Anna Lee Sexton Lax. He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Somerville where he served as Chairman of Deacons. A 1960 graduate of Somerville High School, he was a volunteer fireman with the District 15 Fire Department in Fayette County. Mr. Lax retired from Inland Steel in E. Chicago, IN. He moved back to Somerville in August, 1998.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Suzanne Lynette Lax Laker of Auburn, IN; a son Jeffery Glenn Lax of Palmerton, PA; a sister Anna Powers of Marryville, IN; two brothers, Robert "Bud" and Morris Lax both of Whiteville; 5 grandchildren, Alexandria, Elizabeth, and Emma Laker, and Marcus and Micah Lax. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lurline McQueen and a brother Billy Lax.
