Walter Homer (W.H.) Abels
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on September 20, 1932 the son of the late Otis Herschel Abels and Lillian Young Abels Brashier.
Mr. Abels had worked several years at Paper Box Factory as a troubleshooter. He retired from the State Park at Pickwick as a maintenance man. He was a member of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. A former member of the Jack's Creek Beagle Club, Wayne County Beagle Club, and a member of the Tennessee Association of Walking Horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, beagles, walking horses, and vegetable gardening.
Mr. Abels departed this life on February 5, 2008 at the age of 75 years,
4 months, 16 days.
He is survived by his daughter: Marilyn Smith of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 sons: Terry Abels and his wife Melissa of Savannah, Tennessee, Donald Abels and his wife Tammy of Savannah, Tennessee; 1 brother: Verline Murphy of Memphis, Tennessee; 1 half-sister: Shirley Derevage of Savannah, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren: Stephanie Luker, Jonathan Smith, Stacey Abels, Tracey Abels, Kelly Abels, Donald Abels, Levi Abels, Hannah Abels; 1 great-grandchild: Jaden Smith; 1 half-great-grandchild: Alexis Luker; 4 nephews; 2 nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 brother: Herschel Abels; 1 half-sister: Ruth Hardin
