Wallace J. Bunting
was born January 30, 1929 in Lewes, Delaware the son of the late Wallace Jennings Bryan and Mildred Elizabeth Hudson Bunting.
On August 7, 1954 he was united married Martha Jean Deatherage who survives.
During his life Mr. Bunting was employed as a River Boat Captain-Pilot for Weathers Towing, Flowes Transportation, Chromalloy Towing, Muscle Shoals Tug and Fleeting Service. He served 2 years with the Navy and 30 years with the Coast Guard. Serving in 3 wars, WWII, Korean War, and the Vietnam War earning a place in the Coast Guard Hall Of Fame in Ocean City, Maryland. Mr. Bunting served as a Captain-E-9. He was a former citizen of Tennessee, Lauderdale County, Alabama, and spent 50 years between Muscle Shoals and Tuscumbia, Alabama. Mr. Bunting was a member of the Pickwick United Methodist Church, American Legion, V.F.W., and the Men's Bowling Association of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bowling, and golfing.
Mr. Bunting departed this life on October 8, 2007 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 78 Years, 8 Months, 8 Days.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters: Mary Ellizabeth Bunting of Rockford, Illinois and Peggy June Blevins and husband Steven of Florence, Alabama; 6 grandchildren: John Paul Bunting and wife Jennifer, Michael Shane Posey, Eric Wayne Posey, Kristi Leigh Bunting, Bryan McKinley Smith, and Brandon Lee Blevins; 5 great-grandchildren: Skyler Wayne Kelley, Austin Edward Bunting, Michael Dalton Bunting, Trenton Wayne Posey, and William Howard Posey.
In addition to his parents Mr. Bunting was preceded in death by his son Donald Edward Bunting.
