Walker Jordan

Henderson, TN: George Walker Jordan, Jr., age 82, died February 23, 2009, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.He was born in Hawkinsville, GA the son of the late George W. Jordan, Sr. and Marion Greene Jordan. He attended school in Hawkinsville and graduated High School in Talladega, AL. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving a total of eighteen years including his reserve time. Mr. Jordan attended the Naval Academy and later graduated from Georgia Tech. He was married to Augusta Woodward on October 5, 1952. He was an Electrical Engineer for Georgia Power Company. They made their home in Georgia for most of their married life, after retiring they moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1984 and moved to Henderson, TN in July 2008. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Florida.He is survived by his wife, Augusta Jordan of Henderson; two sons, George W. Jordan, III and wife Beth of Henderson and Edward P. Jordan and wife Pam of Greensboro, NC;Six grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, Wayne, Jimmy, Mark and Allen Jordan and a sister, Lucy Jones of Decatur, GA.Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, Shackelford – Johnson Chapel, with Paul Roten and Stan Smith officiating and burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
