Finger, TN: Waford Max Smith, age 64, died August 13, 2008 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
He was born in McNairy County and grew up at Finger, the son of the late Willard Mitchell and Myrtle Ward Smith. He went to school at Finger and graduated Bethel Springs High School in 1962. He was married to Wanda Noel in 1968. He was a restaurant manager for Pitt Grill in Nashville, and then as a salesman for Orkin Exterminating in Jackson. He was a cutting room supervisor at Oakley Fashions in Jackson. He had worked in production at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Jackson until it closed in 1987. He was a self employed wholesale route salesman until he became disabled in 1994. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Smith was the Administrator for the Selmer Moose Lodge #1321 from October 27, 2004 until the present. He also served as Junior Past President of the Tennessee Moose Association and was a member of the Henderson Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Noel Smith of Finger; two daughters, Shawn Edwards and husband Tommy of Shiloh and Melony Smith and a special friend Yost Hostetler; three grandchildren, Zachary, Justin and Kara Edwards; a sister, Kate Garner and husband Keith of Memphis.
He also leaves a host of family, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Smith and a sister, Zara Tedford.
