W. O. Burkeen, 75, of Medon, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
The widower of Faye Ervin Burkeen, who died April 8, 2005 after 53 years of marriage, he was a farmer and had worked at the sawmill and at Jervis. Mr. Burkeen was born May 7, 1930 in Chester County, son of the late Ernest and Omie Lutrell Burkeen and lived in Hardeman County all of his life. He enjoyed restoring old cars and was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
Services are 1:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Orville McMahan officiating. Burial is in New Union Cemetery near Medon.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Burkeen of Medon; three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Willie Haase of Mercer, Brenda and Randy McAnally of Medon, Betty Carol Bass of Medon; two grandchildren, Brandon Haase and James Donald Bass and nephews and nieces.
