Virginia Smalley Sisco

Services for Mrs. Virginia Smalley Sisco will be 11 am, Saturday, March 15, 2025, in the chapel of Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar with burial to follow in the New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to service.

Mrs. Sisco, age 92, departed this life on Tuesday evening, March 11, 2025, at Spring Gate Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Memphis. She was the widow of Mr. Euel Sisco who died Saturday, May 31, 2009.

A native and life-long resident of Hardeman County, Virginia was the daughter of the late Thomas Lofton and Katie Byrd Smalley. She was united in marriage to Mr. Sisco on May 19, 1952 and, in addition to rearing her family, worked for about 5 years for Coca-Cola as a vending assistant. A member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Sisco loved being outdoors where she spent many hours gardening and tending her flowers.  She was a birdologist, so much so that she could tell the difference in their species by their bird songs and bird calls. She also was an avid reader.

She leaves as her survivors, two daughters, Janice Sisco of San Francisco, CA and Mary Beth Lawing of Smyrna. TN, two sons, Lynn Sisco of Ellendale, TN and David (Toni) Sisco of Bartlett.   She also leaves six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Amanda Sisco Stoermer and Bonnie Sisco Rich; two sisters, Annie Ruth Smalley Owens and Peggy Smalley Boone; and one brother, Thomas Smalley.
