Virginia Hodge Moore

June 17, 1928 — April 2, 2013

Mrs. Moore died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her home in Irmo, SC.



A native of Middleton, she was the daughter of the late William Clarence "Bud" Hodge and Jewel Robinson Hodge. She married Robert Carlton Moore, Jr. on December 27, 1953 and lived in the Pocahontas area until his passing on December 22, 1995. Since that time, she has lived with her daughters in Alabama and South Carolina. Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and member of the New Heights Church in Columbia, SC, where she was active in the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother-in-law to her sons-in-law, whom she loved very much.



She leaves two daughters, Teresa Poor and her husband, Dub, of Pelham, AL and Kathy Griner and her husband, Embree, Jr. of Irmo, SC; seven grandchildren: Jeff Poor of Washington, DC; Amanda Duncan of Hoover, AL; Christopher Griner of Irmo, SC; Lauren Griner of James Island, SC; Mathew Griner of Irmo, SC; Embree Griner, III, of Columbia, SC and Eleanor Griner of Greensboro, NC; and 7 great-grandchildren.



In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, J. L. Hodge.
