Virginia Deatherage Moffett
was born on April 15, 1927 in Michie, Tennessee the daughter of the late Allen McKinley and Mary Una Bearden Deatherage.
On July 11, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vallie Dee Moffett, who preceded his wife in death on February 11, 1998.
Mrs. Moffett was a graduate of Michie High School. She later attended Jackson State Community College and Northeast Mississippi Community College and was a graduate of Vaughn’s School of Music in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Mrs. Moffett worked as a charge nurse at Western State Mental Health Hospital in Bolivar, Tennessee, Hardin County General Hospital in Savannah and Hardin Home Nursing Home in Savannah. She also taught piano at Cerro Gordo, Crump and Walnut Grove Elementary Schools and was church pianist at the First United Pentecostal Church in Savannah, Tennessee. Mrs. Moffett was a member of the House of Mercy Church in Morris Chapel, Tennessee and had also been a member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Savannah, Tennessee.
She departed this life on June 12, 2006 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 28 days.
Mrs. Moffett is survived by her sons: Darrell Edward Moffett of Stantonville, Tennessee and Dennis McKinley Moffett of Savannah, Tennessee;
3 grandchildren: Darren Matthew Moffett, Randall Gregory Moffett
and Anthony Ryan Moffett; two great-grandchildren: Abigail Chloe Moffett
and Danielle Elizabeth Moffett;
2 brothers: Jesse Edward Deatherage of Florence, Alabama
and James Raborn Deatherage of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee;
and 3 sisters: Martha Jean Bunting of Florence, Alabama ,
Barbara Ann Malm of Arnold, Maryland and Sandra Sue Boyd of Michie, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by
2 brothers: Charles Daniel Deatherage and Jimmie Allen Deatherage
and 2 sisters: Peggy Jean Lambert and Mary Helen Deatherage.
