Virginia S. Howell was born November 14, 1925 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Aubrey and Allie May Morse Stanfield.
She was united in marriage to Lee Tearl Howell on March 13, 1942. Mr. Howell preceded her in death on May 3, 2016, following 74 years of marriage.
Mrs. Howell attended school in the Ramer and Hurley communities. She was a hard worker all her life, having been employed with several manufacturers including Levi-Strauss, General Electric, Hall Printing, and Sturgis Business Forms. She also farmed and raised livestock. Sewing, quilting, and gardening were among Mrs. Howell's favorite pastimes. She was a lover of animals, and would feed and care for any abandoned or injured animal that happened by. Food was her love language; she enjoyed cooking breakfast for her son's friends before they left for an early morning hunt and would feed the hobos who hopped the trains that ran near her home. Mrs. Howell was a member of the Antioch church of Christ in Ramer.
Mrs. Howell departed this life on December 23, 2019 in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 94 Years, 1 Month, 9 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Johnson and husband H. C.; two sons, Roger Howell and wife Sara (Teague) and Craig Howell and wife Sheila (Shelton), all of Ramer, TN; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by two sisters, Henrietta Barlow and Maxine Ray; a brother, Lester Stanfield; and a grandchild, Christine (Johnson) Thomas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
