Vester Lee McCullar was born November 1, 1919 in McNairy County, TN the son of Theodore Wright and Bessie Elizabeth Cardwell McCullar.
He was united in marriage to Oleta Kirk on May 27, 1949.
Mr. McCullar believed in service to his country, church and family. He served honorably in the United States Army during the European Theatre of World War II, the years 1941 through 1945. He was a member of American Legion Post 162, VFW Post 2418, a charter member of Ramer Ruritan Club and involved with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ in Ramer, Tennessee and served as deacon for over 25 years. He worked for over 30 years for the State of Tennessee as a motor vehicle inspection enforcement officer. He was a member of Tennessee and Mississippi Sheriff's Association.
Mr. McCullar departed this life on October 30, 2016 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 96 Years, 11 Months, 29 Days. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Oleta McCullar of Ramer, TN; son, Dennis McCullar and wife, Theresa of Pocahontas, TN; two daughters, Wanda York of Ramer, TN and Brenda Gill and husband, Kenneth of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren, Amanda Latimer and husband, Bruce, Kevin York, Denessa Mitchell and husband, Adam, and Bryan Gill; six great-grandchildren, Steven and Jacob York, Caleb and Hannah Latimer, Kinsley Hart and Adley Mitchell; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McCullar was preceded by a brother, Hugh McCullar; three sisters, Leota Gooch, Hazel Kinchen and Irene Thompson.
