Vernon Austin Wiggins, Sr., 82, of Bolivar, died Friday morning, January 5, 2007 at McNairy County Health Care Center in Selmer.
The widower of Minnie Bell Wiggins, who died in 1995, and Lillie Chandler Wiggins, he was a retired sawmill and timber worker. He was born June 8, 1924, in Hardeman County, son of the late Charlie Austin Wiggins and Martha Linda Grantham Wiggins and lived here all of his life. Mr. Wiggins’ family stated that he loved to hunt.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Jernigan of Nesbit, Miss., two sons, Joe Wiggins of Bethel Springs and Vernon Austin Wiggins, Jr. of Selmer; two sisters, Bernice Vaughan and Charlene Morris, both of Bolivar; four brothers, Neely Wiggins, Edwin Wiggins and Donald Wiggins, all of Bolivar and Henderson Wiggins of Holliday, Tenn.; two grandsons, Jeffery Lynn Martin of Southaven, Miss. and Michael Lynn Wiggins of Bethel Springs; and three great grandchildren, Megan Destiny Martin of Michie, Gabriella Wiggins and Jonathan James Wiggins, both of Bethel Springs.
