Vernon Austin (Junior) Wiggins

Vernon Austin (Junior) Wiggins was born March 19, 1952 in Memphis, TN the son of the late Vernon Austin, Sr. and Minnie Bell Doles Wiggins.

Junior retired from Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer after 17 years of faithful service. Prior to his employment with Shackelford Junior worked for McNairy County General Hospital for many years. His infectious smile, laughter, and good natured sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. Junior enjoyed buying and selling cars, going to the mountains and travel in general, and attending the Selmer Hee-Haw performances. He loved people and never said a bad word about anyone. Junior attended the Dixie Hills Church of God in Bolivar with his family when he was young. After moving to Nesbit he attended Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis with his sister.

Junior departed this life on April 24, 2019 in Nesbit, Mississippi at the age of 67 Years, 1 Month, 5 Days. He is survived by a sister, Martha (Marty) Jernigan and husband Richard of Nesbit, MS; two nephews, Jeffery Lynn Martin and wife Tammy of Cordova, TN and Michael Lynn Wiggins and wife Danielle of Bethel Springs, TN; four great-neices: Gabby Wiggins, Megan Robertson, Alexis Ryder, and Kaitlyn Ryder; two great-nephews, J. J. Wiggins and Bailey Ryder; a sister-in-law, Katherine Wiggins of Bethel Springs, TN; his sweetheart, Barbara Teet of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by a brother, John Joseph Wiggins.
