Vernon Howard Gilchrist

Vernon Howard "Gilley" Gilchrist, age 78, of Florence, Ala. died on Monday, November 6, 2006 at ECM hospital, Florence, Ala. He was born in Wayne County, TN on September 10, 1928 to the late James Henry and Clara Murphy Gilchrist. Mr. Gilchrist was preceded in death by his wife; Willa Mae Brewer Gilchrist; son; Kenneth Howard Gilchrist; granddaughter; Tammy Diane Gilchrist; sister; Ruby Joyce Burns; brothers; Johnny Gilchrist; R. D. Gilchrist and James Gilchrist.



Mr. Vernon was a retired machine operator with Ford Motor Company; member of Freewill Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army,

4 grandchildren, Brandy (John) Patrick, Jamie (Audrey) Woods, Misty (Brian) Smith, Shannon Gilchrist; 7 great grandchildren; sisters; Virgilean Gilchrist and Willodean McFall both of Collinwood,TN brother; J.C. Gilchrist of Lawrenceburg, TN nieces and nephews.
