Vernon Wayne Calvery

Vernon Wayne Calvery, Sr. was born on October 30, 1952 in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of the late Vernon Abernathy and Susie Lucille Austin Calvery.

On October 30, 1986, he was united in marriage to Mary Potter, who survives.

Vernon spent most of his life living in Memphis, Tennessee and worked in sales at the Commercial Appeal as well as Memphis Press - Scimitar. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for 8 years. Vernon loved to fish, listen to the Beatles, and was a big fan of desserts. Most of all, he loved his family very much.

Vernon Wayne Calvery, Sr. departed this life on November 19, 2022 in Oxford, Mississippi at the age of 70 years and 20 days.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Calvery of Memphis, Tennessee; daughters, Casondra Renee Calvery of Millington, Tennessee, Alicia Danielle Calvery of Memphis, Tennessee, and Kerri Linn Southall of Linden, Tennessee; sons, Vernon Shawn Calvery of Millington, Tennessee, Vernon Wayne Calvery, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, Vernon John Calvery of Memphis, Tennessee, and Vernon Zachary Calvery of Memphis, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
