Verna Marie Miller Floyd

Verna Marie Miller Floyd of Selmer was born on March 20, 1912, in Prentiss County, Mississippi, to the late Jake Freeman Miller and Minnie Rosella Frederick Miller. She was united in marriage to Richard Clarence Floyd who preceded her in death on December 7, 1986. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tishomingo, Mississippi, and was a homemaker.Mrs. Floyd passed from this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer at the age of 96 years, 9 months, and 17 days.Survivors are her daughter Colene Wright of Selmer; three sons, Ernest R. Floyd of Spring Grove, Illinois, Bob W. Floyd of Arcadia, Florida, and Ben G. Floyd of Grays Lake, Illinois; a sister, Arlene Miller Davis of Memphis; two brothers, Danish R. Miller of Florence, Alabama, and Eulion K. "Dean" Miller of Haleyville, Alabama.13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughterA host of other relatives and friends.Other than her husband and parents, Mrs. Floyd was also preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
