VERA HANDLEY STEELy
was born in Franklin County, Alabama on September 13, 1921, the daughter of Curt and Betty Foster Handley. On July 19, 1938, she was united in marriage to Edward "Poke" Steely who preceded her in death on October 4, 1984.
She spent most of her life in Hardin County, Tennessee as a wife and homemaker. She was also a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Steely departed this life on December 13, 2005 at the age of 84 years and 3 months. She is survived by:
two daughters, Glenda Beard of Florence, Alabama and Jackie Fox of Savannah, Tennessee;
two sons, Gene Steely and Terry Steely, both of Savannah, Tennessee;
13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren;
a brother, Travis Handley of Clinton, Arkansas and
a sister, Faye Lowery of Springdale, Arkansas.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Steely and three brothers, Quincy Handley, Alfred Handley and Elmer Handley.
