Vera Marie Gardner passed away on Saturday, February 18th . Vera was born August 24, 1924, in Savannah, TN., to John P. and Minnie Alexander. She married David (Sam) Gardner, Jr. in 1946 and while he served in the US Air Force they lived in Clovis, NM, Fairbanks, Al, Superior, WI, Japan and Lompoc, CA. before returning to Savannah in 1967. During their travels Vera enjoyed playing bridge and won awards in oriental flower arranging while in Japan. Upon returning to Savannah Vera worked for Alexander Pontiac - Olds (now Jones Motors) for several years as their bookkeeper. Her main interests were always her home and family. Vera was active in the Savannah Church of Christ and served on The Hardin County Bank Board of Directors.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David (Sam) Gardner, her brothers J.P. Alexander, Max Alexander and Wilbur Alexander, her sisters Opal Hall & Edith Castelli. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law David and Colleen Gardner and three grandsons Scott, Mike and Bill along with their families. Vera is also survived by her youngest brother Jerry Alexander and will truly be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families.
