Velma Earlene Moore

August 24, 1929 — April 25, 2009

Mrs. Moore passed away early Saturday morning at Forest Cove Nursing Home in Jackson.



She was a native of Hardeman County, Tennesse and lived there until 1981 at which time she moved to Jackson, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Ollis and Bessie Surles Wiggins. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Shandy Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.



Mrs. Moore was employed with Hardeman County Developmental Services Center and Madison - Haywood Developmental Services Center. She was an alternate manager for their group homes.



She was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Lowell Peters and her step-father, Billy Carter.



She leaves her daughter, Paulette Garrett and her husband, Freddie, of Jackson, TN; her brother, Paul Wiggins and wife, Margaret, of La Grange, GA; her granddaughter, Michele (David) Rowell, of Jackson, TN; her grandson, Clagett (Jana) Talley of Savannah, TN; her grandson, Lee (Anna May) Garrett, of Jackson, TN and her grandaughter, Lela (John) Canter, of Memphis, TN.



Mrs. Moore also leaves four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Sarah Rowell, Tray Talley, and Savannah Garrett. She also leaves several beloved nieces, nephews, friends, cousins, and caretakers of Forest Cove Nursing Home, where she had resided for the last two years.
