Mrs. Vadeen McKeown, age 95 of Middleton, Tennessee, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 11, 2016 in McKenzie, Tennessee.
Mrs. McKeown was born Monday, April 12, 1920, to the late Luther and Effie Yopp in Hardeman Co., TN. On October 19, 1945, she was married to Ray McKeown, who preceded her in death December 30, 1972.
Mrs. Vadeen taught first grade in Saulsbury and Pocahontas, TN, and also worked with the Tennessee Department of Human Services. She was a member of the Middleton Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Freed Hardeman University and also attended the University of Mississippi. Mrs. Vadeen was an avid walker, and enjoyed doing yard work. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work with the church, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society. She lived all of her life in Hardeman County except for a brief time in Atlanta, GA.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hill and husband Ken of Hendersonville, TN; two grandchildren, Katie Hill Williams (Patrick), and Parker Hill of Hendersonville, TN; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Williams.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rodgie Reynolds & Bonnie Shiver; one brother, Godwin Yopp; and two infant siblings.
