Troy Albert Hurst was born on March 27, 1948, to the late Wallace and Lavada Hurst. After a long battle with cancer, Troy departed this life on July 26, 2024 with his loving wife, Judy, by his side.
Troy leaves behind his three grown children, as well as two step children and six step grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Reba Faye Croom, Josie Givens, Marsue Irwin, Wheaty Martin, Agnes Hurst and Nancy Nix. Troy was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace Hurst, Jr. and George Hurst and sister, Versie Rosefort.
Troy served in the United States Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam.
Troy was affectionately known as "Big Poppa" to the grandchildren and had a special bond with his "main man" Braxten. His friends and family will always remember him for having a special nickname for those he knew and loved.
Troy loved his morning coffee, the L.A. Lakers and watching Parking Wars. But above all, Troy was happiest just being anywhere with his loving wife, Judy. The many years they shared together were some of the happiest for him.
Troy will be laid to rest at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee.
