Troy Leon Holt

Troy Leon Holt, age 84, went to his sunset on Thursday, February 11, 2016. He was born in Waynesboro, TN on January 6, 1932 and was a former Sheriff of Wayne County, Tennessee and was a law officer there for many years. Retired from TVA as a security guard, he lived in Collinwood, TN for years before moving into Keestone assisted living in Florence, AL in 2014. Mr. Holt was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge 702 in Wayne County, TN and was a member and firm believer in the NRA. He was a strong republican, of the Baptist faith and was a Corporal in the TN National Guard from 1950 to 1952 in the 117th Heavy Mortal Infantry and qualified as an expert in the U. S. Rifle Cal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Grace White Holt, sons, Parker and Bill Holt, daughter, Janice James, his first wife and the mother of his children, Beverly Holt and his second wife, Mae Holt, grandsons, Gregory Holt and Mitchell Kelley and great-grandson, Hunter Kelley, brothers, Raymond and Orvill Holt and sister, Corrine Heard.

He is survived by daughters, Kimberly Riedout and husband, Warren of Florence, AL, Tammi Jackson of Millington, TN, son, Daniel Holt and wife, Vicky of Florence, AL, daughter-in-law, Phyllis Holt, seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, sisters, Carolyn Harrison and husband, Charles, Mary Katheryn Holt all of Collinwood, TN, brothers, Preston Holt and wife, Betty and Arnold Holt and wife, Glenda all of West TN, Curtis Holt and wife, Reba and Parker Holt and wife, Becky all of Collinwood, TN.

Services will be Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Wayne Wood officiating and Masonic and Police rites. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be great-grandson, Joshua Nunn, grandsons, Billy Holt, Jeffery Holt, Tommy Jackson, nephews, Stacy Holt, Monty Holt, Kevin Heard and Michael Holt. Honorary bearers will be great-grandson, Jordan Nunn and Troy's brothers of the Masonic Lodge.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN or by donating a book in his memory to any library of your choice. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice with special thanks to his hospice nurse, Courtney and the angel staff at Keestone.
