Luther Todd Smith, departed this life at the age of 47 years, 3 months and 8 days, Saturday morning, January 28, 2012, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Born October 20, 1964 to Luther Ellis and Barbara Emerson Smith, in Jackson, TN. Mr. Smith was married June 5, 2009 to Lori Fry Smith. A 1983 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, he also attended the University of Memphis and Penn State where he studied turf management. He served in the U. S. Air Force and was self-employed in construction. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Hardeman County Country Club and was also a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Lori, Mr. Smith is survived by his parents, Luther & Barbara Smith; 2 daughters, Jessica and Sydney Smith both of Memphis; a son, Hunter Smith of Bolivar; 2 sisters, Cindy Hazelwood and husband Richard of Bolivar, Caroline Vandiver and husband Donald of Jackson, TN; 2 brothers, Gary Smith and wife Carole of Bolivar, and Tim Smith and wife Angie of Jonesborough, TN; 5 nieces, Erin Piefer and husband Bryan, Julie Smith, Bridgette Taylor and husband Dusty, Sophie and Sadie Fry; 4 nephews Bo Hazelwood and wife Melissa, Tyler Hazelwood and wife Brittney, Chad Vandiver and wife Mandy, and Nathaniel Smith and wife Jennifer; and by 7 great nieces, Maddy and Emmy Piefer, Maci, Caroline, Bella and Kylee Taylor, and Elise Smith.
