Thomas Eugene Young, 74, of Silerton, died Monday evening July 9, 2007 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widower of Patricia J. Cox, who died May 17, 2004 after 45 years of marriage, he was a trim contractor and carpenter. Mr. Young was born September 21, 1932 in Hardeman County, son of the late Thomas Sandy Young and Ivy Roosevelt Emerson Young. He lived in Memphis from 1956 to 1976 before returning to make his home in Silerton. Mr. Young served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Silerton volunteer fire department. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter and a member of Silerton Baptist Church.
His survivors include two sisters, Opal Otena Swinford of Bolivar and Georgia Lee Vales of Lexington; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Ann Wilbanks, James E. Howell, James W. Vales, Anita Lambert, Berlinda Howell, Rose Thompson, Linda Swinford and several great nieces and great nephews.
