Thomas Leroy Young

Mr. Thomas Leroy Young, age 74, of Drummonds, TN, formerly of Hardeman County, passed away Sunday morning, June 15, 2014 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.

He was a school teacher, having taught and coached at Cypress Junior High School. Later he taught inmates at West Tennessee High Security. He was born March 23, 1940, in Pocahontas, TN, son of the late J. C. and Ruby Jewell Blankenship Young and lived in Jackson and Nashville prior to moving to Drummonds over 20 years ago. He married Brenda Gail Baker, who survives, on July 17, 1970. He served in the US Army and enjoyed collecting, carpentry, and guns. Mr. Young was a member of Millington Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gail Baker Young of Drummonds; a daughter and her husband, Angela (Bill) Morgan-Bozeman of Drummonds; two sons and a daughter in law, Kevin (Jamie) Young of Bartlett and Brad Young of Somerville; two brothers, Mickey Young of Crossville and Danny Young of Memphis; 7 grandchildren, Cody Miller, Asia Morgan, Miah Morgan, Jennifer (Cody) Johnson, Brandon, Sydnie and Tori Young; and one great grandchild, Kase Johnson. The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
