Mr. Potter died Thursday evening at Henderson County General Hospital in Lexington. The widower of Bertha Mae Potter, who died on March 14, 2005, he was a farmer and had worked for the Memphis Fire Department. He lived in Moscow from 1950-61, was in Memphis prior to that and moved to Hardeman County in 1961. He served in the Air Force during World War II and loved gardening. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Potter of Saltillo; a stepdaughter, Oleta Randolph of Whiteville; a stepson, Verl Lane of Lexington; two grandchildren, Laura Mays and Robert Corkum; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and a sister, Angeline Kinney of Cocoa Beach, Florida. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Delashmit and Laura Shelton; three brothers, Paul, Brewer and Frank Potter, a grandson, Robert L. Hopper and a stgepdaughter, June Holland.
