Thomas Dallas Maness who departed this life on April 28, 2013, was born in Booneville Mississippi on June 12, 1924 to William Luke and Mary Runions Maness. Even though Mr. Maness’s early education was limited because of growing up in the Great Depression, he took classes as an adult to improve himself. Mr. Maness farmed as a young man and worked at Quality Manufacturing Company from 1957 until his retirement in 1989.
He married Margaret Rushing Maness in 1947 and they had thirteen children Patsy Taylor of Henderson, Judy Maness Jones of Speedway, Indiana, Lorene Smith of Henderson, Irene Rinks of Henderson, Mary Sue Roberts, who preceded her father in death, Linda Johnson of Sardis, Donnie Ray, who preceded his father in death, Janie Kay Cook of Sardis, Ronald Maness of Murfreesboro, Ricky Maness of Jackson, Roger Maness of Bethel Springs, Nancy Robertson of Morris Chapel, and Treva Gitchel of Enville.
After his marriage to Margaret ended in 1967, he married Willie Lucille Rinks Maness. They had five children, Virginia (Ginger) Elder, of Lexington, Lisa of Henderson, Danny of Henderson, Luke of Nashville, and Tomesa Rogers of Lexington. After his marriage to Willie Lucille ended he married Mary Ellen Maness who survives. He is also survived by 38 Grandchildren, 35 Great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In additions to two of his children, he is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Odis, Suley, Orville, Younger, and Paul Maness. He is also preceded in death by his sisters Irene Smith and Estelle Huggins.
Mr. Maness was a Pentecostal in faith and his love for God and music helped him survive the valley and hills of live. Mr. Maness liked to garden but playing the guitar and singing was his way of relaxing after a hard day of work.
